As a Community Web Developer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and improving our NOWINCLUDED community platform. With a community-first mindset, you’ll lend your expertise to supporting the team’s mission of improving 1 million Black lives.
Description
Responsibilities
- Design and develop user-friendly interfaces for the NOWINCLUDED platform, ensuring responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
- Build robust server-side components and APIs to support the functionality and integration of the platform's features and services
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to implement new features, enhancements, and integrations according to specifications and requirements
- Perform ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of the platform to ensure high performance, security, and scalability
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of web applications to identify and resolve issues, ensuring a seamless community member experience
- Utilize version control systems (e.g., GitHub) to manage codebase changes, collaborate with team members, and maintain code integrity
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including code comments, system architecture diagrams, and deployment instructions, to support development processes and knowledge transfer
- Stay up-to-date with emerging web technologies, best practices, and industry trends, incorporating new tools and techniques into development workflows to drive innovation and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in web development roles, with proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Strong programming skills in languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including frameworks/libraries like React, Angular, or Vue.js), and server-side scripting languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, PHP)
- Experience with web development frameworks and tools (e.g., Express.js, Django, Laravel), as well as database management systems (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB)
- Expert proficiency in WordPress, HubSpot, Webflow, and other relevant CMS tools
- Solid understanding of web standards, protocols, and best practices for security, performance optimization, and SEO
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable code
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving project requirements.
